Victory Baptist Church Prayer Requests

Unfortunately the sciatica I’ve been dealing with since I was young And my chronic eye problems are worse than usual for some reason this time of year that seems to always be the case. So because my spine pain and sciatica are worse than usual I’m finding myself not only taking
More prescription pain killers and muscle relaxers but also another prescription used for the break through pain and I find myself using all 3 at one time just to get some decent sleep at night.
I have a new Gastroenterologist whom one of my new health practitioners has recommended has decided my case is too complicated and is suggesting I need see a Crohn’s disease research specialist her practice is at a research hospital in Baltimore. They have called and set up an appointment for me. I thank those of you who had prayed for me about this. So far there’s been no explanation or determination about what precisely has been causing symptoms or abnormal lab results. However the last time I had a bunch of unexplained medical symptoms etc.. it took maybe a about a year or two of appointments procedures, test, xrays etc before they decided to do a scientific trial that included exploratory surgery where they worked on my internal adhesions, repaired an internal fistula while also looking for cancer and removing other things they believed needed to be removing. I’ve been told not only by more than one surgeon/doctor that it’s getting for a number of reasons too dangerous for me to have major surgery and that if Ithey need to perform another major surgery there’s a good possibility that I will be on a constant feeling tube or as Dan sums it up “ that I would be messed up the rest of my life “ God has in the past ended up using unexpected people and experiences to treat my medical situations not quite as unusual as Jesus using spit and mud to heal a blind mans eyes but without going into all the details unexpected ways , certainly!
I’m asking prayer because after 5 major surgeries over the years and being hospitalized even more than that not including all the many minor surgical procedures under anesthesia and not that I’ve had . I’m just fatigued the “Gun Ho “ attitude I had when younger “lets get this overwith and out of the way ,after the first two major surgeries was gone .

God doesn’t promise us health, he does however ask us to be content with what he’s provided for us in life and I’ve learned to do this but the truth is it’s been difficult as I’d prefer to be doing so much more and used to be able to do more. I’ve had to miss things such as my own college graduation, bridal showers, weddings, family reunions and many others and even though God had blessed me in being a stay at home mom. I was forced to put my children in paid day care situations when I was in and out of the hospital and or too unwell and recovering to take care of them. I had no other options . I would love to be doing so much more than I’m able to and this is the challenging part for me is being content with what Gods providing including my health and not letting misperceptions, criticisms, expectations, and my own preferences and wants make me discontent.

We need prayer for Gods protection that he will strengthen our faith and give us his mercy grace, wisdom, direction comfort and peace for Dan the doctors, and myself.

I continue to pray for the prayer concerns on this site and for those i hear asked for on the online services and on the prayer handout, the prayer chain and for anyone who has contacted me personally and asked for prayer and we covet your prayers also.
Thank you for reading this very long letter.
I’m hoping to finish by adding my praises on the praise page if not tomorrow this week but its after midnight on Sunday I think it was about 10:30 when I started.
God Bless and Thank you. Susan & Dan

  • Scott And Marissa Brocious

Dear Brothers and Sisters at Victory,
It is with great joy and hearts overflowing with thanks to God for an answer to prayer concerning Isaac. As you know, Isaac has lived 17 years as non-verbal and diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. On May 2nd during our worship service, Isaac was being kept occupied with a dry erase book of tracing dotted letters and numbers. On a whim of curiosity, I began to give him patterns with numbers (counting by 10's, 5's, 3's, etc.). He was able to supply the missing numbers that occurred in various locations in the sequence of numbers. This so intrigued me that I began giving him random multiplication facts which he could find the answer, as well as a missing factor. Scott and I just looked at each other across the top of his head totally dumbfounded. Later that afternoon, I thought I'd try words. I asked him to write...Daddy, Noah, Luke, Grandmom, Grandpop...he wrote them all and spelled them all correctly! Scott asked Isaac who I was and he wrote 'mom'. What began as just a word here or there has blossomed into him writing phrases and simple sentences. He answers our verbal questions, as well as written questions...yes, this dear boy can READ!!! He wrote his address, which no one has ever taught him! Perhaps, the most wonderful questions and responses have been these: Who died on the cross? Answer: Jesus; Why did he die? Answer: sin; Did he die for you? Answer: Yes; Do you sin? Answer: Yes; What is sin? Answer: Bad; Where will you go when you die? Answer: Heaven; Are you a Christian? Answer: Yes, I am. Yes, I am. His favorite church song is Jesus Saves. He knows my favorite hymn...The Lily of the Valley. Just last night I wrote out John 3:16 with blanks for him to fill in the missing words....I thought this may be a long shot, but God is AMAZING! Isaac filled in the missing key words from the verse. So, we wanted to share this fabulous news on the progress that Isaac is making and that finally he has a way to break free from the bondage of silence. Everyday our minds are astounded at the information that he knows and our hearts overflow with joy at being able to communicate with him. The verse that immediately came to my mind as these events have occurred in the past month is Ephesians 3:20-21..."Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout the ages, world without end." Thank you all for your prayers!
